Shooting at Western Forest Products Mill

Our thoughts are with our members in the Nanaimo area and their families following the shooting at the Western Forest Products which killed two men and injured two more.

This kind of senseless and tragic violence is difficult to grasp. Our members and their communities are reeling from shock and pain.

The elected leadership and the union staff at MoveUP send our support and sympathy to all who are impacted by this tragedy.

The benefits in most MoveUP collective agreements provide access to an employee and family assistance program (EAP), which can provide counselling and referral services in times of trauma and distress. Please don’t hesitate to access your EAP program in times of crisis.

Sincerely,

David Black, President
Lori Mayhew, Secretary-Treasurer
Heather Lee, Vice-President
Gwenne Farrell, Vice-President
Annette Toth, Vice-President
