MoveUP Celebrates Anti-Bullying Day

MoveUP staff and elected officials joined hundreds of thousands of people across Canada to take part in Anti-Bullying Day, also known as Pink Shirt Day.

The day originated in Nova Scotia in 2007 when a teenage boy was bullied and called homophobic slurs when he wore a pink shirt to his high school. His friends organized a day where they all wore pink shirts as a symbol they were prepared to stand with their friend against bullying.

The action spread rapidly across Canada and the US. In B.C. the last Wednesday of every February has been proclaimed Anti-Bullying Day.

MoveUP members in several worksites (like in the Duncan ICBC office below) also took part in Anti-Bullying Day.
