Coast Mountain Bus – Training Program

October 2, 2017

TO: All General Security Patrol, General Investigations Officers, Security Operations Coordinators

Your union recently met with the employer to continue our ongoing discussions regarding the establishment of a training program in the Transit Security department.

Recently this process has been put on the backburner while the parties discussed the changes to Appendix “S” and Letter of Agreement S3, which were recently ratified. Prior to this, a joint union-management committee had been working on an outline of how the training program might look. This outline was drafted, and agreed in principle, although some changes may be required prior to implementation to reflect the changes brought about by the newly ratified language. The program, when implemented, will provide for training of new staff as well as refresher or upgrade training for existing members.

The next step is to finalize the curriculum for the program. A new joint committee is being formed to work on this, and the parties have a goal of finalizing and implementing the program by Q2 or Q3 of 2018.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this.

In solidarity,

Stephen Von Sychowski
Union Representative
