On Friday, July 25, 2025, our union co-hosted, alongside USW Local 2009, the 9th annual Bob Derby Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament is named after former Local 378 Vice-President Bob Derby, who was a huge proponent of building connections between our union members through social events and fun activities, who we lost 10 years ago.
We want to thank everyone who participated – from sponsors to prize donors to celebrity guests to volunteers to golfers – and for all your generosity help us raise money for our incredible charity partners: The Union Protein Project, and the Courtnall Society for Mental Health and HeadsUpGuys.
Thank you to our committee – led by committee co-chairs Annette Toth (MoveUP) and Al Bieksa (USW Local 2009) – for their tireless efforts to make the experience one to remember for everyone, and especially to the co-chairs of MoveUP’s Events & Social Planning Committee (Alycia Guile, Alysha Morris and Brian Martens) for being the main driving force behind ensuring everything that needed to happen did.
Most importantly, thank you everyone for helping us keep the memory and spirit of former Local 378 Vice-President Bob Derby alive. It is so heartwarming to know he continues to play a major role in bringing people together and doing good in our community.
