Working together to address the problems at ICBC

February 6, 2018

To: MoveUP members at ICBC

We understand this has been a very anxious and difficult time for you and your fellow coworkers at ICBC with all the speculation surrounding how the employer will deal with the massive loss projections.

We want to reassure you that your union is working closely with ICBC to come up with solutions that will address these problems. These solutions involve you. Our members are an integral part of fixing the problem at ICBC and we will be advocating for the need for more staff – not less – and for the employer to listen to the feedback that our passionate members have that can help them combat unreasonable and excessive overbilling as a result of a system that allows for such practices to occur.

We are pleased today to learn of the first step that the government has taken towards a solution to bring ICBC back onto solid footing and their continued commitment to ensuring all British Columbians have access to affordable public auto insurance. You can read MoveUP’s response to today’s announcement here.

As we have previously stated, your union is here to protect you. We want to also reassure you that your pension funds are secure. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your local job steward or get in touch with us.

All members and their families have access to confidential support services through the Employee and Family Assistance Program. We encourage all members to take advantage of the service, especially during what may be a time of increased stress and worry. Homewood Health can be reached at 1-866-644-0326.

In solidarity,

David Black, President
Annette Toth, Vice-President
