W.A.V.A.W.-RCC – Bookkeeper Included in MoveUP Bargaining Unit

To: All MoveUP Members at W.A.V.A.W.-RCC
We are happy to announce that the role of the bookkeeper has now been included in the MoveUP bargaining unit. We received confirmation from the BC Labour Board today that MoveUP’s certification will be varied to include the position of bookkeeper.
Your union started the process of including the bookkeeper under the Union’s certification back in June 2020. We submitted a Section 142 application with the BC Labour Board with the hopes of having the bookkeeper included in the Union. The Employer originally opposed the inclusion of the position and wanted the role of the bookkeeper to be excluded and to be considered a managerial exempt position.
Subsequently, through various case management calls with the BC Labour Board appointed Vice Chair, the Union and the Employer, the Employer withdrew their objection that allowed for the Union’s application to succeed.
