Victoria Shipyards – Pension and Benefits – Closure of DA Townley

March 11, 2025

To: All MoveUP members at Victoria Shipyards

As you know, all MoveUP members at Victoria Shipyards are covered under the pension and benefit plan through the Boilermakers Lodge 191, which is administered through DA Townley.

The Boilermakers 191 were informed near the end of January 2025 that DA Townley was ceasing their business and that they would be officially shutting down on June 30, 2025. DA Townley has assured the Boilermakers 191 that all claims will continue to be administered by DA Townley until May 31, 2025.

After both the Boilermakers 191 Pension Plan and Benefit Plan boards reviewed possible replacements for DA Townley, they have hired the McAteer Group of Companies to act as the third-party administrator for your plans. McAteer has also advised that the money managers, actuaries, and auditors from DA Townley will be transitioning to McAteer as well.

We expect minimal, if any, disruption to this change in third-party providers. It is anticipated that there will be no effect to our members with respect to pension or benefits. While this contract with McAteer is for one-year starting on June 1, the Boilermakers will be accepting Requests for Proposals over this period to ensure that they’re getting the best provider available.

If you have any questions related to your pension or benefits between now and May 31, please continue to reach out to DA Townley. We will be requesting contact information from the Boilermakers 191 for McAteer and will provide that to you as soon as it’s been received. You can find company information on McAteer here.

In solidarity,

Yudon Garie, Union Representative
