Victoria Shipyards – Bargaining Update #2
June 7, 2021
To: MoveUP Members at Victoria Shipyards
The parties have met multiple times in the past few months to achieve a renewed collective agreement.
Your MoveUP bargaining committee met virtually with the employer on April 16 to review the proposals related to LOU 7, which is the section of the collective agreement that only applies to MoveUP members. The initial proposal exchange was handled by the Boilermakers Local 191 who are at the table negotiating the main body of the collective agreement. Each union will only have representatives at the bargaining table for the proposals which directly relate to them.
Your committee is scheduled to return to the bargaining table with the employer on June 15 to continue bargaining.
As many of you know, after 34 years with the employer, Becky Sebastiano has recently retired and along with me, served as part of the bargaining committee. Becky has graciously agreed to remain on the bargaining committee to provide the history and insight that is needed.
We will provide further updates as bargaining progresses.
In solidarity,
Your bargaining committee:
Becky Sebastiano
