VOCU Bargaining Update 9 – Strike Vote Results

November 18, 2020

To: MoveUP Members at VantageOne Credit Union

After many days of bargaining and multiple days of mediation, it became apparent to your union bargaining committee that we would not be able to come to an agreement with your employer. Your bargaining committee heard your voices, both collectively and independently, and it was clear that you were no longer willing to settle for less than what you deserve.

On November 16, 2020 we held a strike vote meeting to update you on the situation and ask for your support by taking a strike vote.

Voting was open from 7:00pm on November 16 until 7:00pm on November 17 and the results of that vote were released today. The question on the ballot was “Are you in favour of a strike?” Your voice came through loud and clear again with the results, which were:

34 – Yes
0 – No
0 – Spoiled Ballots

That’s a 100% strike vote!

Your union will be advising the Labour Relations Board of the strike vote results and your bargaining committee will continue meeting to discuss next steps.

We understand that things were done a little differently this time with electronic voting, the need for you all to log in to the Member Portal and virtual meetings, but you still took the time to attend and vote, and for that, we cannot thank you enough!

Your bargaining committee will keep you updated as things progress. As mentioned in the strike vote meeting, please ensure that your home address, home email address, and other personal contact information is correct in the Member Portal.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:
Nadine Burton, Job Steward
Erik G., Executive Councillor
Yudon Garie, Union Representative
Scott Wilcox, Union Representative
Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President Combined Units
