Seaspan ULC Retroactive Wage Increase

To: MoveUP Members at Seaspan ULC
During the last round of bargaining with your employer, your union negotiated a ‘me too’ clause with respect to wages which states:
The Parties recognize that the employer is currently in bargaining with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild (CMSG) and International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU), Local 400.
In any of the years above, should either the CMSG or ILWU receive a general wage increase which exceeds the percentages received by MoveUP, inclusive of any COLA amounts negotiated, the higher percentage shall be applied to MoveUP members on a fully retroactive basis.
With the successful ratification of the recent CMSG collective agreement, MoveUP members at Seaspan ULC are now entitled to retroactive wage increases as follows:
March 1, 2021 – wage increase of 0.5%
March 1, 2022 – wage increase of 3.7%
The employer has now advised your union that the compounded retroactive wages will be paid to each MoveUP member on the mid-December payroll.
