Bargaining
Schneider Electric – Bargaining Update #1
May 10, 2024
To: All MoveUP members at Schneider Electric
Your bargaining committee met with the employer at the Sandman Hotel in Richmond, BC to start collective bargaining on May 7, and May 8, 2024.
The parties have discussed and tabled all items including monetary proposals and benefits.
The parties have signed off all non-monetary proposals the union tabled, including improved process language on:
- contracting out and exclusions from the bargaining unit
- layoff and recall
- right of representation and investigations
- maternity, parental and adoption leave
In addition, the parties have confirmed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday.
Your committee is very pleased with non-monetary improvements to the collective agreement.
The outstanding issue is salary increases as the employer and union proposals on salary are not that close at the present time, based on the employer’s last offer.
A membership meeting will be held very soon to discuss the state of bargaining and to gauge member support for your committee’s wage proposal, and assess next steps.
Please monitor your private email for a date and time for the membership meeting.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:
Daniel Storms, Union Representative
Ivan Temese, Job Steward
