** RETRACTION** Notice of By-Election – ICBC – Executive Councillor – EC Area #1646
July 8, 2026
To: All MoveUP ICBC members in EC area # 1646
PLEASE DISREGARD THIS BULLETIN SENT YESTERDAY – IT WAS SENT IN ERROR.
APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.
Due to the vacancy of Hapinder Bassi and in accordance with the constitution, we are running a by-election for the above councillor position. Duties of the executive council are detailed in article 7.4 of the constitution.
As an executive councillor in your workplace, you are the spokesperson for your union. You are a vital link between the membership and the elected leadership. You, along with other job stewards, speak for your fellow members in the day-to-day relations between our union and management. In addition, you attend five executive council meetings a year where you can participate in the direction and decision making of your union. You can find more detailed information on your role in the Executive Councillor Handbook which is available on the resources page for stewards and councillors of our website.
An instruction and nomination form are attached HERE.
Nomination deadline is 4:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday July 22, 2026.
To run for an executive councillor position, be a nominator for a candidate, or to vote for a candidate, you must be a member in good standing. In general, to be in good standing means that your union dues are up to date. Most members are up to date as your union dues are paid directly by your employer, but if you have taken a recent leave of absence (e.g. maternity, parental, long-term disability, etc.) then your dues may not have been covered during the time you were away. To check if you are in good standing, log on to your Member Portal account.
If you do not know what your membership ID number is, please fill out the form at: https://moveuptogether.ca/membernumber/
If you have any questions regarding your membership information, contact our membership department staff at membership@moveuptogether.ca.
If you need further information, please email returningofficer@moveuptogether.ca or call the union office at 604-299-0378.
