Picket lines at Vancouver Island Regional Library; Reminder to not cross picket lines
March 9, 2022
To: All MoveUP Members on Vancouver Island
Members of the BCGEU Local 702 are currently engaged in a labour dispute with the Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) and their members have begun setting up picket lines as of today, Wednesday, March 9.
In the days to come, we anticipate that picket lines may be set up at some or all VIRL branches.
As fellow union members, we will always respect the picket lines of other unions and we stand with the workers on strike in solidarity in their fight for a fair collective agreement.
If you see any picket lines being set up at any location, do not cross the picket line.

If the current dispute between the BCGEU and VIRL affects any workplace locations for our members, we will be in touch with those specific members to provide additional information on procedures.
If you encounter a picket line, we encourage you to drop by and to show your support for the BCGEU members in their dispute. We thank you for standing in support of your fellow workers.
In solidarity,
David Black, President
Lori Mayhew, Secretary-Treasurer
Rysa Kronebusch, Vice-President, Utilities
