PrairieCoast – Bargaining Update # 8

To: All MoveUP members at PrairieCoast Equipment Inc.


On February 8th, your Union held a strike vote and you voted 100% in favour of a strike. Your Union subsequently filed for mediation under Section 55 of the Labour Relations Code.

We sought out mediation as your Employer had not made themselves available to our satisfaction to continue collective bargaining. On February 14th, we received word from the Director of the Mediation Division that the Labour Relations Board had appointed mediator Christina Bains.

Mediation dates have now been set and will be occurring on March 17th and 20th, 2023.

We’ve made Ms. Bains aware of the previous Labour Relations Board intervention that was required when we filed an Unfair Labour Practice complaint with your Employer, which was settled back in June, 2022, so that Ms. Bains is aware of the context in preparation for mediation.

If mediation is successful and a tentative agreement is reached, a ratification vote will be held with the membership. Should a tentative deal not be reached, either the matter will proceed to arbitration, or we will exercise our right to engage in job action.

Should we begin job action, the Union will need confirmation of your current pay. All members should email (or mail to our office) their 3 most recent pay stubs as soon as possible.
