NOTICE OF BY-ELECTION – Executive Councillor Areas #1601-#1613

To: All MoveUP members at ICBC EC Areas #1601-#1613
EC Areas #1601-#1613 represents members employed at ICBC at Head Office 151 W Esplanade, 132 W Esplanade, 171 W Esplanade, 221 W Esplanade.
There are thirteen at-large positions in these EC areas. Seven of these councillor positions are currently filled.
Six Available Positions
Term Ending: April 30, 2020
In accordance with the constitution, we are running a by-election for the above councillor positions. Duties of the executive council are detailed in article 7.4 of the constitution.
As an executive councillor in your workplace, you are the spokesperson for your union. You are a vital link between the membership and the elected leadership. You, along with other job stewards, speak for your fellow members in the day to day relations between our union and management. In addition, you attend five executive council meetings a year where you can participate in the direction and decision making of your union. You can find more detailed information on your role in the Executive Councillor Handbook, which is available on the resources page for stewards and councillors of our website.
JOE SPARTANO (out of office) has submitted a nomination form for one of the vacant positions. Nominations must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. If there are five nominations or less submitted by the deadline, Joe Spartano will be declared a successful candidate.
