Nobody should have to work when they’re sick

August 19, 2021

To; MoveUP Members

The global pandemic has been a challenge for us all. But COVID19 has also revealed that workers whose employers do not provide sick days are left with few choices and too often must go to work sick. This needs to change so we can also stay healthy.

The BC government introduced 3 days of paid leave related to COVID-19.  This started May 20, 2021 and will expire on December 31, 2021. When the BC government passed the legislation to protect people they also established a timeline of bringing in a permanent paid sick leave in 2022.

The BC government is now developing a plan for paid sick leave that will protect all BC workers. But they need input from workers.  We are asking you to take 5 minutes and fill in the survey and give your opinions on why we should be protecting all workers. You can find the survey here.

The online surveys will close on September 14, 2021 at 4:00 pm.

MoveUP encourages all members to participate in this opportunity to shape this important government policy to keep people safe.
