MoveUP supports Blue Bus workers

August 22, 2022

To: All MoveUP members at Coast Mountain Bus & TransLink

As many of you may know, the drivers and mechanics at Blue Bus in West Vancouver—who are represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 134—have been involved in job action since late July.

The workers are seeking a new collective agreement that compensates them fairly and equitably for the work that they do. As members who work in the public transit sector, you know firsthand the vital importance of the work that you do, as well as your colleagues who are drivers and mechanics, in keeping our services running.

MoveUP President Lori Mayhew has sent a letter of support to ATU Local 134 expressing our union’s support for their workers. You can read the letter here.

At this time, it is not expected that the ongoing dispute will affect our members either as riders or transit employees. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with updates as they become available, as well as share with you ways that you can support the members of ATU Local 134 should they request it.

In solidarity,

Lori Mayhew, President
Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President, Combined Units
Shawn Lakusta, Union Representative
