MoveUP signs on to call for full and permanent immigration status for all

MoveUP is proud to join organizations from across Canada, including many of our affiliates and partners in the labour movement, to sign on to the call by the Migrant Rights Network for a single-tier immigration system where everyone in the country has the same rights.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a greater spotlight on the inequalities that exist in our society, particularly impacting women, Indigenous, Black, and Brown communities. But it has been especially devastating for migrants, refugees, and undocumented peoples who have not only lost jobs and wages but have been denied the emergency supports and, as a result, denied even the most basic of rights including food, shelter, and healthcare.
Together with the Migrant Rights Network and supporters: “We call for a single-tier immigration system, where everyone in the country has the same rights. All migrants, refugees, and undocumented people in the country must be regularized and given full immigration status now without exception. All migrants arriving in the future must do so with full and permanent immigration status.”
We encourage all our members and the employers that we work with to stand up for human rights and to sign on the support the call by the Migrants Rights Network for full and permanent immigration status for all.
