Bargaining

Southern Railway – Members overwhelmingly reject employer’s proposal at Southern Rail

July 15, 2021

To: All MoveUP members at Southern Railway

I wanted to thank all of you for taking the time to vote on your employer’s proposal. I am extremely proud to see all of you took a stand against the employer’s proposal which, in our view, was clearly not good enough.

I am pleased to report that the vote on the employer’s proposal was a resounding NO, with 100 per cent of the vote rejecting the proposal.

Now that the employer knows that we are all united and that their offer was insufficient, this gives us a strong mandate and greater strength when we return to the bargaining table to tell them that they need to do better – much better!

Mike Novak, your regular union representative, is currently taking some much-deserved time but wanted to apologize for the delay in relaying this information to you. Upon his return, he will be updating you on what the next steps in the bargaining process will be.

In the meantime, if you have any workplace issues or questions, please feel free to contact me at jsaheb@moveuptogether.ca.

In solidarity,

Javed Saheb
Union Representative
