Konica Minolta – Personnel Security Screening

August 1, 2023

All MoveUP members at Konica Minolta

Your union began to investigate as soon as we learned about your concerns toward a recent personnel security screening and discussed this request with the employer. Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Contract Security Program (CSP) helps private sector organizations participate in Government of Canada contracts. Security screening is a part of this process administrated by the CSP. You will find more details in this Contract Security Manual.

In this process, the employer is required to appoint a company security officer (CSO) and at least one alternate company security officer (ACSO). A CSO shall meet the security criteria established by the CSP and they should be security screened at the same level as the employer. Before submitting any security screening request to CSP, the CSO and ACSO are required to verify each of their employee’s identity. The CSO or ACSO will obtain two pieces of identification from you. The employer has appointed the controller as a CSO.

Konica has advised the union that all technicians in Konica Minolta Canada are being asked to complete their security screening. The controller will provide the management team with a report outlining each employee’s security clearance level for the purpose of call assignments.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your job steward or me via email. Thank you for brining this to our attention.

In Solidarity,

Anny Chen, Union Representative
