Kekinow Native Housing Society – Union Representation

March 29, 2018

To: All MoveUP members at Kekinow Native Housing Society

If the employer requests for you to attend a disciplinary meeting or an investigative meeting that may lead to discipline, you have the right to Union Representation.  Do not attend one of these meetings unless accompanied by a job steward, union representative or if not available, another member to witness and take notes on your behalf.

Karen McCallum is your bargaining committee member in Chilliwack and serves as a job steward and if she cannot attend in person, she is able to attend via conference call.  Grant Omejc has volunteered and is also able to represent as a job steward.  Either of these two members can attend and advocate on your behalf.

If there is a case where neither of these two job stewards are available, you may request that another member attend or if available, that I be asked to attend as your union representative.  The employer is expected to schedule the meeting around the availability of union representation.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your rights, please do not hesitate to contact the union at cpopeniuk@moveuptogether.ca or call me at 604-299-0378.

In solidarity,

Cheryl Popeniuk
Union Representative
