Joint Occupational Health & Safety Representation BTC North

To: All MoveUP members at CMBC BTC North
This is a notice of interest for membership representation on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety (“OH&S”) Committee (the “Committee”).
In accordance with Workers’ Compensation Act, Division 4, OH&S meetings will take place every month to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy environments. The Committee is a level playing field made up of Employer and Worker safety representatives who have the mutual goal of ensuring workers’ safety.
Time spent on OH&S Committee business is paid for by the employer. Committee members are entitled to eight (8) hours of education leave per year. In some cases, representatives are entitled to eight (8) additional hours of initial OH&S training within the first six (6) months of joining the Committee. Committee members conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries in the workplace.
David Black, President of MoveUP, will make appointments of Committee Representatives, in accordance with the Constitution.
