Job Steward Info Guide on the Member Portal

To: All Job Stewards at MoveUP
Dear job stewards, executive councillors and executive board members,
We are pleased to announce that we will soon be adding new resource materials that will be useful for you in your role as a job steward. These resources, titled Job Steward Info Guide, will be available in the Member Portal section on the MoveUP website under the documents tab.
This month’s article is titled: Disciplinary Investigations – The Right to Remain Silent. The Principle and the Exceptions.
We plan to add more articles in the future.
These reports are written by MoveUP arbitration specialist, Brian Nelson, and provide valuable analysis of various issues that job stewards may face.
For those of you that attend job steward meetings, these articles will be reviewed and discussed by the union representative. If you are one of the individuals who organizes the job stewards meeting agenda, please start incorporating a standing agenda item titled “Rep Report on JS Info Guide.” This will be an opportunity for job stewards present to discuss the key points of the guide and ask questions.
If you have not used your member portal, we strongly encourage you to do so. There are documents on the portal which you may find helpful in your role as a job steward. It is also where you can go to provide a home email address which we encourage each of you to do.
There are times when we do not want to send information to your work email address, particularly items that may be sensitive or confidential. Without your home email address, we cannot get this information to you. We also ask that you encourage your coworkers to provide us with their home email and ensure the information we have for them is up to date via the member portal.
To log in to the member portal, visit the MoveUP website and click on the member portal link that appears the upper right-hand corner. If you require any assistance signing in, please contact our helpful membership services staff at MoveUP at 604-299-0378.
