Important Update Re Negotiations With Hastings Entertainment

December 6, 2017

To: All MoveUP members at Hastings Entertainment, Inc.

Last weekend, MoveUP members at Hastings Park voted overwhelmingly to reject the employer’s latest offer. 76% said no to a deal that had zero wage increases for first three years.

MoveUP then served strike notice, which doesn’t mean a strike will occur, only that we can legally strike as of tomorrow afternoon.

As expected, the employer responded by serving us with lockout notice. This gives them the legal right to lock out unionized members as of Friday, December 8.

Unfortunately, the employer has also demanded that another “final offer” vote be held. This is set for December 17.

We want to be clear: The offer hasn’t changed. It is exactly the same as the last one. There is no new wage offer and nothing has been added to the previous deal.

This is insulting to all of us and especially members who have already seriously considered the offer and rejected it. However, we must vote again and of course, the vote must be to reject the employer’s offer.

MoveUP believes this issue could easily be resolved, but we need to get back to the bargaining table.

We will be holding an informational meeting to explain this process and answer all your questions this Sunday, December 10.  Further details will be sent within the next few days. We urge you to attend.
