ICBC-Vehicle Settlement Representative Update

We write to provide an update on ICBC’s decision to eliminate the VSR position. Since our last update, we have repeatedly requested for the corporation to provide any update to us and you since its August announcement concerning this decision, but thus far, we have received no substantive update.

What we have been advised is that, as a Crown corporation, it is currently restricted on how it communicates externally due to the current provincial election. It means it must restrict much of the public communication that it typically does due to what is called the interregnum period. This is the time between the writs of election being dropped and a new cabinet being sworn. In addition to further information on the fate of the VSR position, the corporation is also restricted in terms of advertising, promotional social media, or proactive news releases.

Unfortunately, we are unlikely to receive further information until after the provincial election concludes. However, please be assured that we will communicate with you if any new information is received between now and October 19^th.
