ICBC – SSRS Workload Complaint Update

June 22, 2026

To: All MoveUP members at ICBC in Senior Support & Recovery Specialists roles

Since our last bulletin, the SSRS Workload Committee has been in the escalation process of the complaint with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

After our recommendations were denied by the Operations Leadership Team (OLT), we submitted an escalation to Paul Setacassi, Director, Claims Injury & Recovery Services. You may review his response here. The letter states that SPOC was just fully implemented a few months ago, but we feel that isn’t true as the first implementation started in June 2024. There has been ample time for the Corporation to iron out any problems with SPOC and implement our recommendations, as we have been working within this model for the past 2 years.

Once again, our recommendations were dismissed. We are very disappointed in management’s lack of taking our suggestions seriously, and their lack of explanation as to just why our recommendations aren’t acceptable to them.

Your committee will continue to escalate our recommendations which we feel are practical, common sense, and achievable. The next step is to escalate to the Chief Enhanced Care Officer, Perry Strauss.

While this is ongoing, we are cognizant that our bargaining committee has also advanced proposed changes to Letter of Understanding 18 which governs workload. To review their proposal, please click here.

If we are unable to make acceptable progress through the committee process under LOU18, we are hopeful that our bargaining committee will be able to do so through bargaining.

One final note, our committee chair Grimmsley Feng changed roles within the Corporation and stepped down from the committee. We thank him for his efforts and wish him well in his new role.

We have welcomed Emily Perry to the committee, and we will look towards electing a new chair soon.

If you have any questions or comments on the above, please feel free to contact Missy Besanger, Workload Coordinator at WLCoordinator@moveuptogether.ca.
