ICBC: ISD job profiles realignment project
May 8, 2018
To: ICBC ISD MoveUP members
The corporation recently advised your union about its intent to realign fifteen (15) bargaining unit job profiles into nine (9) new job profiles in Applications Development and Delivery areas within the Information Service Division (“ISD”). The stated rationale for this change is to provide greater consistency in job titles, career opportunities, and allow the department to backfill for specialized roles as they arise. We have been further advised that this change will result in 75 promotions, there will be no layoffs, relocations, downgrades or impacts to employee vacation or seniority. ISD has announced that it plans to implement this project in three phases, starting with the Quality Assurance (Testers) profiles first, followed by Business Systems Analysts, and then finishing with Developers by early May.
Now that the first two phases have been announced, involving roughly half of the 216 employees affected, we have been receiving numerous inquiries from concerned members. We want to ensure that your rights under the Collective Agreement are protected and that the corporation fully supports all affected employees to be successful in their new roles and properly compensated. We have requested a meeting with representatives of the corporation to discuss our collective concerns with this project and want to ensure that your voices are heard. We invite all affected members to send us your concerns ahead of this meeting to ISDChanges@moveuptogether.ca so that we can discuss these with the corporation.
We understand that this is a stressful and unsettling time for many of you and want to assure everyone that we have heard you loud and clear, which is why we have assigned carriage of this matter to our most senior and experienced Union Representative on the ICBC bargaining unit.
In solidarity,
Trevor Hansen
Union Representative
