ICBC: Bargaining Update – Tentative Agreement Reached for a Renewed Collective Agreement – Revised

May 26, 2020

To: MoveUP members at ICBC

Revised dates – see underlined

After 13 months of bargaining, and through what will certainly be the most difficult world event of our times, we are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement for a renewed collective agreement with ICBC. We know how difficult it has been over the last few months. We hope this agreement will bring a little relief and return some stability during this very tough time. Your bargaining committee is recommending ratification of this agreement. Some of the highlights include:

  • Wage increases as follows:
    2% July 1, 2019 – with full retroactive pay
    2% July 1, 2020
    .78% September 1, 2020 (Gainshare roll in)
    1% March 1, 2021 (Gainshare roll in)
    2% July 1, 2021
  • 2020 Gainshare will be paid out at approximately $1123.00 per employee working full time hours. To be paid out in July 2020.
  • Increase in vision care to $400 – effective January 1, 2021
  • Elimination of Step Zero for pay bands three through seven inclusive
  • Increase in mileage from $0.52/KM to $0.55/KM
  • Increase to boot allowance to $175 including taxes
  • 9-Day Fortnight to be either Monday or Friday off. This will be bid in order of seniority prior to annual vacation bid. Staff can volunteer for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday but can not be forced to these days. (CEF language remains unchanged)
  • Work from Home – Removal of requirement for ICBC to provide furniture. Can be up to 6 working days in a two-week period to increase flexibility.
  • Acting Pay will commence after two days
  • First Aid Premium increase – level 1 – $32.00/month and Level 2 – $106.00/month – effective January 1, 2021

Full Membership Telephone Townhall Meeting – Tuesday June 2nd 6:30-8:00 PM

We will be holding a telephone town hall (TTH) on Tuesday June 2nd from 6:30-8:00 PM to walk every member through the entire package and to answer your questions.

This coming Monday, you will receive an automated voice call from Annette Toth reminding you about the Telephone Town Hall. If you receive this call, that’s perfect! It means we have your contact information and you are ready for the TTH.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, you will receive a phone call between 6:20 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. at that same number to connect you live to the telephone town hall. If you do not receive a call on Monday, it means we do not have your most updated phone number. Between now and Friday,  make sure we have your correct contact information on the Member Portal, including your personal email address for voting. Please note: we cannot call your ICBC phone number so your personal phone number will be critical.

If you cannot sign in to the Member Portal, you need to email membership@moveuptogether.ca immediately so we can get you set up for the TTH on June 2nd and for voting from June 3 to 10.

If you miss the call, you can still connect to the telephone town hall by dialing 1-877-229-8493 and entering ID CODE 112379 any time between 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.

We know that right now, with so much disruption at ICBC, members will also want to ask questions related to COVID-19. However, we ask that on the TTH you allow us to get through all the bargaining issues first and, if there is still time, then we can talk about COVID-19. If, in the meantime, you have specific questions about COVID-19 and your work or tentative agreement, please email ICBCbarg@moveuptogether.ca.

Voting – June 3 to June 10, 2020

Voting will open on June 3, 2020 at 8 a.m. and will remain open until June 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. We will conduct this vote electronically. Paper ballots will not be provided. As we have indicated in previous bulletins, to vote you will need to gain access to your Member Portal on the MoveUP website. Here is what you need to know for voting:

  1. Log into your secure Member Portal now: It can be found on the MoveUP web site, in the upper right corner of the home page. Your login will be either your membership number or your personal email address.
  2. Critical Information needs to be reviewed and updated: While in your Member Portal, please make sure all your personal information is up to date and accurate.
  3. To be able to vote as of June 3rd, we must have a personal email address from you. The one you see in your Member Portal is the one that will be used for electronic voting. We cannot use your ICBC email address.
  4. To be sure you do not miss the call for the Telephone Town Hall (TTH) on June 2nd, make sure your cell and home phone number is up to date as both will be used during the TTH.
  5. If you successfully log in to the Member Portal: Congratulations! You are ready, and practiced, for when voting opens on June 3rd!
  6. If you are unable to log in to the Member Portal: You must email our membership department at membership@moveuptogether.ca. This is critically important. If you cannot sign in now, you may not be able to, once voting opens.
  7. The cut off for having your member portal up to date and ready for voting is Monday, June 1st, 2020 at 12 p.m. (noon). This is a hard deadline for the voting system. Extensions and exceptions will not be available.

 How Does Electronic Voting Work?

Electronic voting is done through your private and secure Member Portal. The voting system we use is run by a third-party provider, Simply Voting. Their system is secure and confidential, ensuring the integrity of the vote.

When voting opens, you will sign into your Member Portal and the voting information will be right in front of you. You will only be able to vote once. When the voting closes on June 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m., the results will be sent to MoveUP. We will send out a bulletin on June 11th announcing the results.
