ICBC- Bargaining Update #9 – Tentative Agreement Reached

Highlights of the deal include:

  1. Wage increases as follows:
    1. Year 1 (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023) = $0.25/hour + 3.24% – full retroactivity
    2. Year 2 (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024) = 6.75%
    3. Year 3 (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025) = A minimum of 2% and a maximum of 3%. The amount will be based on the annualized average of British Columbia’s consumer price index (CPI) over 12 months starting on March 1, 2023.
  2. Benefit improvements as follows:
    1. $1500 combined coverage for all paramedicals
    2. $2500 counselling services/mental health
    3. $500 vision care plus one eye exam every 24 months
    4. Gender affirmation coverage
    5. Vaccination coverage
  3. SG3 and SG4 jobs to be paid as SG5.
  4. One-time monetary subsidy of $1275 in recognition of certain positions that could not work from home.
  5. Increased premiums for first aid attendants, protective footwear, and moving allowances.
  6. New recruitment and retention program for specific classifications in ISD.
  7. Five (5) paid days of cultural leave for Indigenous employees.
  8. Improved Co-Op student program with increased pay for Co-Op students in ISD.
  9. Pilot project to facilitate 100% work from home with potential for future expansion to other departments.
  10. Retirees to receive retroactive pay increase as lump sum payment.

The full Memorandum of Agreement will be shared with you next week. Please take the time to read it through as there are many other items not listed above.
