ICBC – Bargaining – Update #7

April 4, 2023

To: All MoveUP members at ICBC

Your bargaining committee met with ICBC for four days last week. It was very productive, and we are pleased to report that considerable progress was made on most of the remaining non-monetary proposals. There remain several key non-monetary proposals that need attention, and both parties are committed to continue to find some common ground and reach an agreement on those specific issues in the coming sessions. However, as we finish the non-monetary items, we anticipate the focus of bargaining will soon turn to the monetary proposals. Your bargaining committee is aware of the members’ priorities, and they continue to be top of mind as negotiations move along.

We are pleased to advise that since our last bargaining update, the general wage increase in year two of your collective agreement, effective July 1, 2023, has been announced and will be the maximum amount, at 6.75%. This will be in addition to the general wage increase that is effective July 1, 2022, which is $0.25 per hour across all salary groups, plus an additional increase of 3.24%.

We are returning to the bargaining table April 11-13 and are looking forward to making further progress towards a renewed collective agreement. We recognize that members are anxious for us to conclude bargaining and may be wondering what is taking so long. As a committee, we remain committed to reaching a fair deal, but we are also careful not to rush and make unnecessary errors. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through our 70 proposals and ICBC’s 17 proposals.

If you have any questions for your bargaining committee in the meantime, please email us at icbcbarg@moveuptogether.ca.
