Bargaining
ICBC – Bargaining – Update #5
December 19, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at ICBC
Your bargaining committee continued negotiations with ICBC earlier this month. The parties discussed many of the non-monetary proposals that remain outstanding, including the possibility of expanding the four-day work week to as many job classifications as possible, working from home, notification of acting appointments (EOI’s), cultural leave for Indigenous employees, as well as the office closures planned for 2023, to name a few. We also discussed amending the examination and bereavement leave provisions and were able to agree to increasing the mileage reimbursement and meal allowance amounts that will come into effect January 1, 2023. Employees travelling for business outside of their primary work location over typical mealtimes can claim the following amounts for eligible expenses:
Per diem reimbursement amounts effective January 1, 2023 | |
Breakfast | $16.00 |
Lunch | $18.00 |
Dinner | $30.00 |
Miscellaneous incidentals | $10.00 |
Travel mileage reimbursements will now follow the Canada Revenue Agency’s Automobile Allowance Rates effective January 1, 2023.
Discussion continues with respect to sick leave and extended health and dental benefits. ICBC presented information to your bargaining committee on sick leave and benefits usage that your committee is currently considering in determining how improvements to both of these important entitlements could be achieved.
Please watch your personal emails for our workload survey that will be released on January 3, 2023. The survey will remain open for two weeks to ensure everyone has an opportunity to respond.
Unfortunately, due to illness, we were unable to meet on two of the dates that were scheduled this month. However, to make up for these lost dates, the parties have scheduled two additional dates in early February to resume negotiations. We will update you following those dates.
