ICBC – Bargaining Update #11 – Sick Leave/Absenteeism Survey

November 18, 2019

To: MoveUP members at ICBC

In the last round of bargaining (November 4 and 6) the Corporation advised your bargaining committee that, in their view, absenteeism as sick leave is unacceptably high and rising.  We expect to hear from the Corporation about how they want to address this matter.

As preparation for these discussions your bargaining committee would like to hear from our members on this topic. With your help, we intend to identify the root causes for rising absenteeism. As a committee, we can speculate on what is driving this phenomenon, but we want to hear directly from you and your coworkers. We want to know what you believe may be driving this increase in sick leave usage so we can deal with root causes, not just focus on the numbers.

Please take 5 minutes and complete this Sick Leave/Absenteeism Survey to help us identify what you see are the root causes behind rising sick leave. The survey will be open from November 18 until December 2, 2019 – 11:59 pm.

We are scheduled to return to the bargaining table December 11-13 and 16-18.

Please check your email for the link to the survey.
