Happy Diwali
This year Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, falls on October 19. Diwali is celebrated by Sikhs, Hindus, Jains and Buddhists around the world. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, which means a row of lights.
During the festival, families perform traditional activities together in their homes, including the burning of small clay oil lamps to signify the triumph of good over evil. The festival is marked by millions of lights shining on homes, temples, and other buildings in communities and countries where it is observed.
The Multicultural Committee wishes all celebrating MoveUP members a Happy Diwali.
