To: MoveUP Members

General election day in the BC municipal elections is this Saturday, October 15! This is your opportunity to choose who represents your interests in your community.

If you have taken advantage of advance voting opportunities to vote, thank you for doing your part to help elect progressive governments that will support working families.

If you have not yet already voted, please make sure you do! Check with your local municipality’s website to see voting times and locations in your area.

In conjunction with the Canadian Labour Congress and your local labour council, MoveUP proudly supports the labour councils’ endorsed candidates. You can also find a list of all the endorsed candidates listed here.

To find a full list of all candidates in your municipality, please refer to your local government’s website. Click here for voter eligibility information.

Why municipal governments matter

Municipal governments play an important role in our everyday lives. They are responsible for providing local services, including important infrastructure such as drinking water, roads, fire protection, sewage, trash collection, and more.

It is important to have progressive voices at municipal governments because municipalities will play a role in making decisions that affect the industries where MoveUP members work, including public transit, utilities, infrastructure construction, and public insurance.

Electing progressive governments at the municipal level means the difference between expanding public services and secure jobs in our communities, versus seeing services cut and jobs lost.

In solidarity,

Lori Mayhew, President
Rysa Kronebusch & Annette Toth, Co-Chairs, Political Action Committee
