BC Hydro – FSR Mitigation Strategy – Follow up to our meeting from Tuesday, January 23, 2024

January 26, 2024

To: All MoveUP members at Various BC Hydro Locations

Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting with the union on Tuesday January 23, 2024. We had a very wholesome discussion and great questions. We took some of the issues back to the employer and wanted to provide you with an update on the next steps.

The employer agreed to provide our members with an extension on severance packages until Monday February 12, 2024. So that means that you have a little less than two weeks to consult with your financial advisors, pension and benefits department and your families to make the best choice for you and your families. Once again, we want to make sure that you know that severance packages that are being offered right now are offered on a voluntary basis.

After Monday February 12, 2024, the employer will compile the data and determine who will be receiving Article 9 options. The employer will be delivering Article 9 notices on or around February 15, 2024. As per Article 9.08 once the employer issues Article 9 options, you will have 3 full working days to select an option.

During our meeting, the union presented an Article 9 flowchart for ease of reference. I am enclosing a copy of the flowchart for your review (click here to view).

If you have any other questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to the union via email bchmail@moveuptogether.ca.

In solidarity,
