FortisBC-CSC – The Vote Results are In

May 4, 2017

To: All MoveUP Members at FBC-CSC

In our last bulletin, we wrote to let you know that the BC Labour Board had granted MoveUP’s application for certification of the FortisBC- Customer Service Centre(s); however, we were awaiting the results of the vote.

We received notice on Wednesday, May 3 that the votes have been counted and the results are as follows:

There were 253 eligible voters:

  • 122 votes counted
  • 117 affirmative (yes)
  • 5 negative (no)
  • 0 spoiled ballots.

This is great news, in that we have finally achieved a certification for the FortisBC- CSC bargaining unit.  We will be issued our certification shortly that will identify MoveUP as the exclusive bargaining unit for the employees at FortisBC-CSC and name FortisBC Energy Inc. and FortisBC Inc. as a Common Employer.

In light of this recent decision, we have confirmed with our legal counsel and we have since withdrawn our two (2) policy grievances related to the improper transferring of work between the Trail and the Prince George and Burnaby offices.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your job steward or myself.

In Solidarity,

Cindy A. Lee
Union Representative
