FortisBC-CSC – Occupational Health & Safety Committee Expression of Interest-Willingdon Park

To: All MoveUP members at FBC-CSC Willingdon Park
MoveUP is looking to fill 2 union representative vacancies on our Occupational Health & Safety Committee as alternates!
The committee members serve alongside employer representatives and work to ensure that any health and safety related concerns in the workplace are addressed.
Now, more than ever, we need to ensure union representation is at the OH&S table!
The committee is responsible for meeting monthly to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy work environments. Per the Workers Compensation Act, time spent on approved committee activities and meetings shall be without loss of pay. In addition, the Workers Compensation Act entitles committee members to eight (8) hours of educational leave each year paid for by the employer.
As a trained OH&S representative, you would conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries at the workplace, as well as represent the union at the joint committee level.
