FortisBC – Bargaining Update #1

July 12, 2023

To: All MoveUP members at FortisBC

As we have had several requests from members for information about our impending round of collective bargaining, we are writing to you with an update on the renewal of the MoveUP/FBC collective agreement which expired on June 30, 2023.

On May 25, 2023, your committee sent the employer a request for up-to-date information about your bargaining unit including its composition, the usage of entitlements such as vacation and health benefits over the duration of the expired agreement, and job descriptions. Together with the priorities and directions expressed to us through the bargaining surveys you submitted, we use this information to ensure that we table proposals that target relevant and important bargaining issues.

Yesterday, July 11, 2023, your employer sent us notice to commence bargaining. As they have not yet fulfilled the request for information, your committee is not yet able to respond to their request for bargaining dates. The employer estimates that they will fulfill our request by July 21, 2023, at which time your committee will review its proposals and send dates. We will update you as soon as dates for bargaining are set.

Thank you for your support and solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:

Norm Stickelmann, Executive Board Member
Michelle Simister, Executive Councillor
Charlie Lee, Executive Councillor
Lea McNaughton, Executive Councillor
Paul Voykin, Union Representative
April Young, Union Representative
