Coastal Community Credit Union – WORKED THE HOURS? GET PAID ON TIME.

October 30, 2026

To: All MoveUP members at CCCU

Dear Members,

We are filing a grievance regarding the delay in paying overtime owed to members.

When you work regular or overtime hours, you deserve to be paid accurately and on time. The employer attributed the error to its new timekeeping system and initially advised that the outstanding overtime would be restored in the next pay period. Two pay periods have now passed, and affected members are not expected to receive the money they are owed until closer to the end of November.

This delay is unacceptable. We believe the matter raises concerns under the Employment Standards Act and are pursuing it through the grievance process. We recognize that technology can fail, which is why we proposed an immediate temporary solution – for the employer to manually issue cheques for the outstanding overtime, along with applicable interest.

The employer rejected this request and has not responded to our subsequent follow-up. Members should not have to bear the consequences of a payroll or system error, as delayed wages can have a serious impact, particularly for members who rely on that income to meet urgent financial obligations.

We will continue pressing the employer to ensure affected members receive what they are owed and that appropriate steps are taken to prevent similar delays in the future.

If you are owed overtime pay, please send your name and contact information to Executive Councillor Marah Carnes at marah.carnes@cccu.ca,  so we can follow up on your behalf.

In solidarity,

Dora Wong
Union Representative
