Coast Mountain Bus – IT Breach

March 24, 2021

To: All MoveUP Members at Coast Mountain Bus

I hope this message finds you well. I want to personally thank each of you for all the hard work and dedication you have shown during the COVID-19 pandemic. You have all played an integral part in keeping the transit system operational during the ongoing COVID crisis. Now with the vaccine roll-out ramping up, we are hopeful that things may get back to some degree of normal by fall of this year.

I fully empathize with the entire membership and realize that the IT attack at TransLink has caused our members a lot of anxiety. Your union has filed policy grievances on this matter and we will be advocating for the rights of our members. I understand in the past few weeks the employer has sent members letters advising members that their personal information has been breached. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone to take the following steps in order to hopefully mitigate the effects of the IT breach:

  • Please advise your cell phone provider that you’ve had your information leaked. In case someone wants to get control of your number you have additional protections in place
  • Contact your bank (the one used by payroll)
    • Have them put a note on your account and advise them to watch for anything potentially fraudulent
    • Move your payroll deposit from your account to another account once funds are deposited on payday
  • Contact TransUnion- 1-800-323-2598
  • Contact your credit card company
    • Advise them your personal information has been breached
    • Have them put a note on your account and advise them to watch for anything potentially fraudulent

I hope this helps alleviate some anxieties regarding the whole matter. If you have any further questions on the matter please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

In Solidarity,

Parm Sandhar
Union Representative
