Coast Mountain Bus – Bargaining Update #8 -February 11, 2020

February 11, 2020

To: All Members at Coast Mountain Bus Company

Your Bargaining Committee met with the employer on Monday, February 10, 2020. The Committee tabled its monetary provisions. The union took a tough stand on executive compensation at CMBC. We advised the employer that members were not pleased to see senior executives, such as Michael McDaniel, CMBC CEO, receiving a 25% wage increase prior to the union commencing collective bargaining. The union advised the employer about the crucial work the members at CMBC provide to the employer in order to ensure services are delivered in a timely, efficient manner. We spoke about concerns about the on-going affordability crisis, the cost of living in the Lower Mainland and how our members have to make do with less.

The employer left bargaining today by informing the union that they will be costing our proposals and returning back to the table at the employer’s head office at Gateway, the week of February 24, 2020. Negotiations are now in the critical stage of collective bargaining. Your Committee will be conducting site visits all this week to answer questions about bargaining. Please see attached bulletin here for dates and times. It is imperative that the membership stay unified and committed at getting the best collective agreement. Any sign of division within the membership can be used by the employer against your Bargaining Committee.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact your Chief Negotiator, Parm Sandhar.

In Solidary,

Your Bargaining Committee:

Brendon Faustin, Job Steward
Vivian Ho, Executive Councillor
Ruth Ritchey, Job Steward
Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
