Bargaining

Coast Mountain Bus – Bargaining Update #4

November 25, 2019

To: All MoveUP members at CMBC

The parties met to continue collective bargaining at the union head office from Tuesday, November 19, 2019- Thursday, November 21, 2019. The union started this round of talks with re-tabling and reminding the employer of its priorities with respect to non-monetary provisions of the collective agreement. The employer initially was not interested in listening to our proposals or keeping an open mind at the outset of this week of bargaining.

The union bargaining committee advised the employer we would not engage in surface bargaining with the employer and advised the employer that they were delaying the progress of collective bargaining. The union bargaining committee reminded the employer the bargaining climate the parties are in and how MoveUP is resolved to support our brothers and sisters at Unifor with their job action.

Ultimately, by the end of the week, the employer moved off their position and the parties agreed to several non-monetary sign-offs. The parties are scheduled to meet once again during the week of December 9th at the union head office.

The bargaining committee is encouraging the membership to participate in the Unifor job action and stand shoulder to should on the line with our Unifor brothers and sisters. The bargaining committee is also encouraging the entire membership to attend the rally planned by Unifor next week at the TransLink Head Office in New Westminster at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 28, 2019, your bargaining committee will also be there to show its solidarity.

In Solidarity,

Your bargaining committee:

Vivian Ho, Executive Councillor
Ruth Ritchey, Job Steward
Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
