Coast Mountain Bus – Bargaining Update #3

July 14, 2023

To: All MoveUP members at Coast Mountain Bus

Your bargaining committee met again with the employer on July 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 in order to continue the process of renewing the collective bargaining agreement.

Proposals from both sides have been presented and thoroughly discussed.

As mentioned previously, both your union and the employer have expressed an interest in ensuring that the agreement assists with recruitment and retention of members.  Not surprisingly there is much work to be done to reach a consensus about the best way to achieve this goal.

The parties have reached agreement on some issues but there is much additional work to be done and the process gets continually more difficult as the more contentious issues take on a more prominent role in the process. Your committee has a strong sense of the priorities of the overall membership and we intend to continue strongly advocating in order to ensure that we meet the needs of our members.

The parties will be meeting again on July 17, 18, 20, 24, 25, 27, and 28.  Further dates will be set if required.

Thanks again for all the support that you have given to your Bargaining Committee.  We are committed to bringing back the best possible agreement.

In Solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:

Tej Basi, Executive Councillor
Simone Byrne, Job Steward
Sean Gosse, Executive Councillor
Stephen Lebrechthausen, Job Steward
Andrew Cheverie, Union Representative
Shawn Lakusta, Union Representative
