CCCU / CCIS – September 19th Holiday
September 15, 2022
To: MoveUP Members at Coastal Community Credit Union and Coastal Community Insurance Services
As you have likely heard, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has heralded that Monday, September 19, the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, will be a federal holiday.
Premier John Horgan has also declared Monday, September 19, a day of remembrance this year to align with the federal decision to mark the Queen’s funeral with a holiday.
As confirmed in Premier Horgan’s statement on National Day of Mourning to mark the Queen’s funeral, and due to our federal holiday recognition language in Article 7, September 19 will be treated as follows:
- Monday to Friday full time employees will receive the day off with pay
- Tuesday to Saturday full time employees will receive a banked day in lieu, to be used within 90 days as per the collective agreement
- Part time employees who were scheduled for a shift on the September 19 will be paid for that shift
- If a part time employee was not scheduled for Monday, they will not receive pay, however, they will receive a seniority day as per the collective agreement
In solidarity,
Trevor Hansen, Union Representative
