CapilanoU – Job Action Update

May 26, 2023

To: All MoveUP members at CAPU

Much to our disappointment, the employer continues to refuse the option of returning to the bargaining table to resolve our simple and straightforward impasse. As such, we are continuing our MoveUP campaign to strategically apply pressure to the employer while affecting the students as little as possible.

With that in mind, the following MoveUP work is struck as of Friday, May 26, 2023:

Corporate Services
Financial Services (excluding Payroll)
Student Financial Accounts
IT – Infrastructure team
IT – Enterprise Systems team
Registrar’s Office – SISOs
Registrar’s Office – Records Officers
Registrar’s Office – Grad team

While we were reluctant to strike the work of Student Financial Accounts, we note that the employer shut down this student service upon our most recent job action. As such, the work is now struck.

This is not yet a full-scale strike with a picket line, however the work for these groups is struck until further notice. MoveUP members in these areas will be participating in a sidewalk study session and leafleting campaign nearby on public property.

Come by and show support!

As a reminder, we are continuing our overtime ban at the University for all MoveUP members. Do not work any overtime.

Thank you all for your continued support.

In solidarity,
