CapilanoU – Bargaining Update #4

September 2, 2022

To: All MoveUP Members at CapilanoU

With Fall term soon commencing, we wanted to update you on the status of bargaining.

We’ve met with the employer to negotiate the next term of the Collective Agreement over 5 days on May 25th, 26th, July 6th, July 19th, and July 26th.

Our next bargaining dates are September 23rd, October 4th, and October 12th.

By now many of you are aware that the BCGEU had initiated job action in the form of a limited strike in their collective bargaining with their employer. They have since returned to the table. Since their collective agreement is under the ambit of the Public Sector Employers’ Council, (PSEC) their fight is our fight; the wage settlement they achieve will influence the wage settlement we achieve.

Following a return to the bargaining table, the BCGEU’s Public Service Bargaining Committee has stood down job action at BC Public Service worksites as a sign of good faith.

We will keep you informed on any updates from their Table.

This is your contract. You are the Union. Help us out by staying informed, reading our bulletins, and coming to our monthly membership meetings.

Update your contact information if you haven’t done so already, so we can ensure that you are getting up-to-date information on the status of our negotiations. You can update us here.

If you have any questions or concerns about bargaining, feel to reach out to your stewards, your councillors, or e-mailing Nathan (nbeausoleil@moveuptogether.ca) or Christy (cslusarenko@moveuptogether.ca)   .

In solidarity,

Nathan Beausoleil, Union Representative
