CapilanoU-Bargaining – Response On Employer E-mail

March 17, 2023

To: All MoveUP Members at CapilanoU

We’re writing to you today to provide some additional clarity on the recent e-mail from the employer on the status of bargaining.

We’ve reviewed the attached document and can confirm the employer “tabled” this settlement document, absent many of the union’s outstanding proposals (including a complete removal of the union’s work from home language), when the employer declined to move forward with mediation at the Labour Board.

The employer has confirmed their position on the Hybrid Work Program in their e-mail. They are opposed to any language inclusion on the matter, and should the employer choose to administer the program unfairly or unreasonably, members would be without any recourse of dispute.

We’re looking forward to discussing this matter further with you at the strike vote meetings on Tuesday. See you there.

In solidarity,
Darin Feist, Executive Councillor
Eric Roberts, Executive Councillor
Suzanne Perreault, Executive Councillor
Nathan Beausoleil, Union Representative
Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President of Combined Units
