Capilano University – Labour Disruption Update

To: All MoveUP members at Capilano University
Thank you to everyone who attended the membership meeting yesterday afternoon. At that meeting, MoveUP members were advised that we were anticipating a strike and picket lines on campus next week arising from negotiations between Capilano University’s janitorial service contractor, BEST Service Pros, and the Service Employees International Union Local 2, the union representing the workers under that contract.
We were notified late last night that BEST and SEIU Local 2 have reached a tentative agreement. We no longer anticipate a strike and expect business as usual on campus next week.
We congratulate SEIU Local 2 and its members on reaching a tentative agreement and thank everyone for their support of SEIU Local 2’s right to strike to get a fair contract.
