Canadian Freightways – Bargaining Update #5

March 17, 2017

To: All MoveUP members at Canadian Freightways Limited

Your bargaining committee met with the Employer on March 15 and 16, 2017 in Vancouver to commence bargaining.  We initially tabled a substantive amount of non-monetary proposals for review and will be following up with our monetary proposals once we have completed bargaining the non-monetary issues.  The Employer in turn produced their list of proposals which will be addressed at the same time that we table monetary proposals.

The parties have agreed to reconvene on May 10 and 11 in Calgary at which time we will provide you with further updates.

We are happy to announce that our job steward numbers have increased after our membership meetings earlier this year, and wish to welcome the new stewards onboard.  The following is a current list of job stewards representing you for MoveUP:

Calgary
Frank Brennan
Tara Rioux

Edmonton
Amy McNeill

Regina
Stacey Richardson

Winnipeg
Lisa Main

We are still searching for a member or two to volunteer at the Burnaby location to advocate for our members.  Job Stewards are our eyes and ears in the workplace and it is imperative, especially in the larger locations, to have somebody to speak out on behalf of the Union.  We are always open to offers from members at any of the remaining locations, so if you are interested in applying to become a job steward please feel free to contact me at cpopeniuk@moveuptogether.ca or contact any one of the job stewards listed above.

If you have any questions or concerns, as always, please do not hesitate to contact your bargaining committee.

In solidarity,

Frank Brennan
