BCITSA – Updated Tentative Agreement Reached – Vote on Thursday, September 3
September 1, 2026
To: All MoveUP members at BCITSA
Hello MoveUP members at BCITSA,
Thank you for your patience as we have been working to seek clarification from BCITSA about certain practices that were not discussed at the table. MoveUP’s goal is to provide you with the most comprehensive first collective agreement possible, so moving forward we can continue to build on your union contract and make even more gains and workplace improvements.
We are now pleased to present an updated tentative agreement package for your consideration and vote. The package now includes Letter of Understanding #3, which protects paid lunch breaks for our members who currently receive the benefit. This letter addresses your concerns that were brought to our attention during our ratification meeting on August 25. The full tentative agreement package can be viewed here.
Your bargaining committee is strongly recommending ratification of your tentative agreement. Some highlights of the agreement include:
- Monetary gains in wages, vacation, personal time, and benefit premiums.
- Robust job security protections such as a grievance procedure, representational rights, progressive discipline provisions, accommodation provisions, seasonal layoff provisions, recall rights, and more.
- Greater commitments from BCITSA on communication and consultation with staff.
The vote will be conducted online from 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, to 8 a.m. on Friday, September 4. You will be able to cast your vote through the Member Portal. If you have not signed up for the Member Portal, please follow the instructions here and register today.
